Privacy Policy

Chord Donkey has no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no tracking. Your audio is analyzed live on your device and never uploaded. The only data that ever leaves your device is what powers AI song generation and purchases. This page explains exactly what that data is and how we handle it.

• Audio. The tuner, chord detection, and practice feedback listen through the microphone and analyze the sound in real time, on the device. Audio is never recorded or transmitted by these features.
• Recordings. Recordings you make in the Recorder are saved only on the device that made them. They are never uploaded.
• Songs and preferences. Your songs, instrument choice, and settings live on your device. If you are signed into iCloud, they also sync through your private iCloud account so your other devices stay in step. That data is stored in your iCloud, under your Apple ID, and Pixel Guild cannot read it.

Generating a song is the one feature that sends data off your device. When you tap Generate, the app sends your song request (the description you typed, plus your instrument and difficulty choices) and your App Store purchase receipt to our server.

The song description is passed to our AI provider, Anthropic, to compose the chord chart, and the finished song is returned to your device. We do not store your song descriptions. They are used to generate your song and then discarded.

What we do keep is a credit ledger. It records your purchase's App Store transaction identifier, your remaining song credits, and technical usage counts for each generation. This is what lets your credit balance follow you across your devices. The ledger contains no name, no email, and no content from your songs.

All payments are processed by Apple. We never receive your name, email address, or payment details. Our server sees only the signed App Store receipt, which it uses to verify your purchase and maintain your song credit balance.

We keep the credit ledger for as long as it is needed to honor the song credits you purchased. If you want your ledger records deleted, contact us using the link below and we will remove them. Deleting the ledger also deletes any remaining credit balance, so we will confirm with you first.

• Apple processes payments and provides the purchase receipts we verify.
• Anthropic processes song descriptions to generate chord charts on our behalf.
• Google Cloud hosts our server and this website.

We never sell your data. There are no ad networks, no data brokers, and no third party analytics anywhere in the app or on this site.

Chord Donkey is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

If our data practices change, we will update this page and its effective date before the change takes effect.
